About the composer
I have not been able to find any information about Diego Verdugo. His composition probably comes from manuscripts found in the archives of the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, dated 1663 – 1680.
About the Stabat Mater
Mixed choir and orchestra
A polyphonic interpretation of three stanzas, mixed with some stanzas from the Gregorian Chant.
The first two and the last stanzas are sung in Gregorian. After the first and after the second stanza the stanzas of Verdugo are sung. The texts of these are not clear to me, due to the complicated polyphony. Maybe they are sung in Spanish.
