Bertha Frensel Wegener-Koopman
About the composer
Bertha Koopman was born in Bloemendaal, Netherlands, in 1874. She studied composition and piano at the Conservatorium in Amsterdam and completed her studies with the composer Bernard Zweers. Soon she became well known as a pianist in Germany and the Netherlands. After her marriage with Mr. Jolen Frensel Wegener she begins a teaching career and focusses on composing. Her “lieder” were generally praised and taken on the repertoire of many famous Dutch singers. She died in 1953.
