About the composer
Urmas Sisask was born in 1960 in Estonia. He started his composing already at the age of
15, when he began writing a piano cycle "Starry Sky", expressing both his love
for music and his fascination for astrology. After his graduation from Tallinn
Conservatory, he familiarized himself with Gregorian chant and baroque music.
Sisask would like his music to be loved as well as to be played by all people. In his
style all kinds of influences can be recognized, from chant, via Beethoven to Pärt. Among
other works he wrote two masses, a Magnificat, a Te Deum, a clarinet concert and a
symphony.
