About the composer
Vivienne Olive was born on 31st May 1950 in London.
She studied music at Trinity College (piano, organ and harpsichord) and music
theory at the University
of York. In 1971 she received her Bachelor of Arts degree which was followed by
further studies with Bernard Rands (York),
Franco Donatoni (Milan) and Roman Haubenstock-Ramati (Vienna). In 1975 she was
awarded a doctorate in composition from the University of York. In 1976 she
moved to Germany where she studied composition with Klaus Huberand and
harpiscord with Stanislav Heller in Freiburg. In 1979 she was appointed
lecturer of music theory at the Nuremberg-Augsburg Academy of Music. She spent
time in Australia. a.o. as composer in residence in Budanon, New South Wales, in
2005. In her
compositions, she combines serial techniques with tonal elements.

| Textual variations | It was difficult to understand the text. As far as I can hear, only the first two lines of the first stanza (Stabat Mater Dolorosa, Juxta Crucem Lacrymosa) are sung. That's why I did not make a colourbar. |
