 About the Stabat Mater
Date 2007
Performers Mixed choir, wind groups and alto
Length 28 minutes
Particulars Daan Manneke was commissioned to compose this Stabat Mater by the Stabat Mater Foundation on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Foundation. The opening performance was on  march 7 2008 in the Petruskerk in Oirschot during the annual Stabat Mater event of the Stabat Mater Foundation. Manneke himself calls his composition a madrigal in seven parts. In the cd-booklet he tells us that his composition has been written in the tradition of the italian choirs: two or more mixed choirs positioned opposite each other. There are also several instrumental wind groups, separately positioned. The composition is marked in two places. Part IV is an instrumental Intermezzo for the blowers and part VI, the Vocalise is for Alt-solo. Near the end, the work becomes even more quiet and intimate.  For me, it was a great pleasure to be present at the first performance in March 2008.
Textual variations I could not make out which version of the text has been used. It was also difficult to analyse which stanzas were sung in which part. So, I am not very sure about the correctness of the colourbar.
