 About the Stabat Mater

Date 2004
Performers baritone soloist, children's choir, mixed chorus and large ensemble
Length 29.14 minutes
Particulars There are seven parts, referring to the seven sorrows of  the virgin Mary. The central part (stanza 9 and 10) is for children's choir. Part two and part six are chorals, based on the Stabat Mater Dolorosa plainchant (Gregorian chant). This Stabat mater was commissioned by St. Albans Choral society in celebration of their Diamond Jubilee. The first performance was in October 2004 at St. Pauls Church.
Textual variations As far as I can hear the "Vatican"-version of the text has been used (except for stanza 17).
