 About the Stabat Mater

Date 1742
Performers Soprano, Alto, Tenor, choir and orchestra
Length 10.39 minutes
Particulars The Stabat Mater is described as one of the highlights of the later Baroque in the Catalonia region of Spain. It consists of 10 short parts. The orchestral accompaniment is interesting, as in each part a duet of instruments is used (2 violins, two horns, two oboes and two flutes). A very nice piece.
Textual variations Probably the "Analecta"-version of the text is used, but only the first ten stanzas are sung, the last stanza ending with "Amen".
